Writing Faster with Online Tools: A Realistic Workflow

Doubling output doesn't mean writing twice as fast. It means removing friction from every step around the writing itself: setting up the doc, doing the polish, uploading to the CMS, generating slugs, checking keyword balance. Ten seconds saved twenty times a day adds up to a whole extra piece a week.

Step 1 — Outline in a template

Start with a plain-text template with the headings you'll use. Filling in an outline is faster than starting from a blank doc.

Step 2 — Draft to a word target

Keep the Word Counter open. Aim for 20% over your final target during drafting.

Step 3 — Structural edit

Read the whole thing top to bottom. Cut sections that don't earn their place. Rewrite openings that don't land.

Step 4 — Line edit

Read paragraph by paragraph. Shorten sentences, cut adverbs, replace weak verbs.

Step 5 — Mechanical polish
